The TravelPerk alternative - a comparison

In this article, we help you choose the right platform for your business, we compare the two business travel management tools – TravelPerk and sitback.

Even though both seem fundamentally similar, the differences between them are quite pronounced and you need to know them in order to choose the right solution for you and your business!


TravelPerk is a service provider for business travelers that turns classic business travel management into digital. According to the Wikipedia page of TravelPerk, the company was founded in 2015 by Avi Meir, Javier Suarez, and Ron Levin, who met, while working in Booking.com. Their business idea received $7 million in series A funding led by Spark Capital. TravelPerk has its headquarters in Barcelona, London and Berlin. TravelPerk uses the web domain travelperk.com and also has a mobile app.

The pricing of TravelPerk offers 3 plans: TravelPerk Free, TravelPerk Premium and TravelPerk Pro. The cheapest option costs €0 per trip while the Pro plan costs €25 per trip. The most popular option – TravelPerk Premium – costs €15 per trip with an option of a free trial.

Unfortunately not. The functions are strictly assigned to the three price plans – Free, Premium and Pro. If you want to have a specific feature included, you need to select the higher-priced plan.

TravelPerk claims to offer the greatest selection of bookable services including flights, hotel room vacancies, holiday apartments, rail tickets, rental cars and group bookings.

A 24/7 customer service is included in each TravelPerk plan without additional costs. Customers are supported via chat, e-mail and phone in TravelPerks help center.

Which one is the better choice for you?





TravelPerk offers three pricing plans: Free, Premium and Pro. Note that the plans are fixed and features cannot be added as you wish![10]

sitback offers three different plans to choose from Startup, Business, and Business Pro. The Startup package is completely free and does not have any monthly or trip fees attached to it.

If you are traveling more often or need our premium functionalities, you can choose our Business plan. The plan also comes with no monthly commitment. You pay only if you travel!
If you prefer having the entire range of services included, then we recommend opting for the Business Pro plan. 😉

Booking Channels

TravelPerk advertises its “world’s largest inventory” but we found no evidence of this. Nevertheless, they have integrated various GDS networks and booking channels on their platform. [11]

With sitback you can add your prefered hotel, flights, etc. in a shopping cart to book your optimal business trip.

Moreover, you profit from sitback‘s partnership with the Lufthansa Group and the hotel booking portal ehotel.

Booking Process

With TravelPerk you can book your trip independently, but for rebookings and cancellations you need the assistance of the customer support. 📞

After their help, the change will show up in your booking within a few hours. [12]

After having registered in the sitback system, you can easily finalize your business trip in your shopping cart. 🛒

The all-in-one platform also enables you to perform modifications and cancellations completely on your own.
There is no need for any support! (Even though we have an amazingly good one 😉)


TravelPerk offers 24/7 a support in English 🇬🇧 via live chat, email or phone. Depending on the availability of the agents, support is sometimes provided in other languages. However, your preferred language cannot be guaranteed![13]

sitback allows you to handle your entire travel management independently via our app and platform. If you have platform or tech questions just reach out via email or chat to the customer support, speaking English 🇬🇧 and German 🇩🇪.
If you prefer having someone on the phone 24/7 for your travelers, we advise you to subscribe to the Business Pro plan.

Payment Terms

TravelPerk offers credit card 💳 and direct debit payments. If you choose the Premium or Pro plans you have the opportunity to pay with a bank transfer or a credit account.[14]

sitback keeps it simple: You can pay everything with a credit card 💳 and receive the respective bills automatically.

Collective invoices on a weekly or monthly basis with subsequent bank transfers are also possible!

Travel Policies and Approvals

Travel policies and approval flows reduce travel costs. TravelPerk only offers this option to its Premium and Pro customers. [15] 

sitback makes the implementation of travel policies and approval procedures easy for you.
You can either select standard travel policies or add your individual guidelines.


Duty of Care

As an employer, you have to fulfill your duty of care and ensure that your employees are properly protected during their travels. TravelPerk has recognized this and offers support with TravelCare. ⛑️

Alerts of possible travel disruptions are included in the Free plan. As an extension for the higher plans, a complete solution for travelers (including alerts / tracking / notifications and contact options) can be booked.[16]

sitback wants you to enjoy your business travel.

This is why, you are provided with free information on your destination, including the latest news on COVID-19. This service is also available during your booking process.

Against a small extra charge, you can add Stay Safe Messages to your respective business trip in order to stay updated on short-term alterations and disruptions.

For expert support in emergency situations, please ask for the 24/7 support. This service is already included in the Business Pro plan.

In order to completely fulfill your Duty of Care, you can use the Care Dashboard. There, you can easily see the current location of your travelers. This feature is also available in the mobile version of our App! 📱
